Elizabeth Bassett

Elizabeth "Liz" Shipp Bassett was born September 28, 1929 in Miller, Oklahoma and passed away January 14, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona with her family at her side. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Vera Anderson; her first husband of 48 years, Jim Shipp and her second husband of 15 years, Joe Bassett. Liz is survived by her two children, Jim (Teri) Shipp of Tucson and Melisa (Tim) Clayton also of Tucson; her three grandchildren and many friends from all over the country. Liz had a zest for life that was contagious and loved her family more than anything. She was a founding member of the Sweet Adelines chorus and even after dementia had taken most of her memories, could still sing every word of almost every song from her era. Liz was a wonderful cook and perfected the art of making pomegranate jelly. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her but we know she is free now and singing with the angels. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church located at 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. Arrangement entrust to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
