Elizabeth Gardner Obituary

GARDNER, Elizabeth Ruman passed away peacefully February 5, 2012, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 5, 1922 in Easton, CT. She served in the WAVES during WWII, a member of America's "Greatest Generation" and a lifelong patriot. In 1949, she moved to Tucson where she eventually worked as an executive secretary at Hughes Aircraft. It was there she met Jean Ward Gardner, the love of her life. They married in 1960 and settled in the Tucson Mountains where they raised two children. After Jean's death in 1997, she moved to Oro Valley. She was dearly loved as a wife, mother, sister, "Grandma Betty" and "Aunt Betty", and also known as "Liz" to many wonderful friends. She is survived by her son, Jeff of St. Paul, MN; daughter, Betsy (Ed) Wilson of Taylor, AZ; grandson, John Wilson and granddaughter, Kaylen Wilson; brother, David (Suzi) of Camp Verde, AZ, brother, Irving of East Madison, ME, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She joins her dear Jean, her mother Edith, nephew Jamie, brothers Billy and Charles, and many dear friends A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Nature Conservancy, the National Parks Association, or Disabled American Veterans. Vaya con Dios, nuestra querida.
