Born in Minnesota and raised in Chicago, she received a BA in Art from Carleton College (MN) and a Master's degree in Art Education from Columbia University (NYC). Beginning as the Head of Art at Stoneleigh College in New Hampshire, she spent fifty-five years producing and teaching in nearly all aspects of the visual arts, in both public and professional schools and community arts organizations. Among these were Highland Park (IL) High School, The Art Institute of Chicago, and St Olaf College (MN). She was a founding member of the Cincinnati Museum of Modern Art and, later, a founder and early President of the Northfield (MN) Arts Guild. In her later years she was resident artist in an art studio in the Greek Islands maintained by the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 1943 she married Stuart M. Hunter with whom she raised an active family of four boys. She greatly enjoyed her many family, social, civic and church activities. On her husband's retirement she and Stuart realized a long-time dream of living an everyday life in Europe, residing in France, Spain, and Greece for five years. She is survived by her husband of 69 years and their four sons: Stuart III (San Francisco), Stephen (DC), Spencer (Tucson), and Stanton (Pasadena). A quiet family service is being held at their church. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
