Eria Everitt Obituary

Erla Everitt 93, died peacefully on June 2, 2012. She was born Erla Mae Hardgrave on October 28, 1918 in Harmony, Arkansas. Erla grew up in Arkansas and earned her B.A. from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville in 1941. She and husband, Hugh McCracken and their family moved to Tucson from Mobile, Alabama in 1961. After Hugh's death in 1964, Erla earned her Master's in Education from the University of Arizona, and then taught English at Doolen Jr. High School and Rincon High School. In 1972, Erla married Don Everitt, a retired Latin and English teacher whom she met at their church. After her retirement in 1981, Erla enjoyed community activities: her church, Tucson Girls Ranch Auxiliary, ADK, Tucson Natural History Club and particularly her book and birthday clubs. She loved reading and gardening, and she especially adored her grandchildren. Survivors include children: Hugh McCracken Jr. and Sara McCracken Reavis (Tom); grandchildren, Erin McCracken, Katherine Reavis Robbins (Wayne), Daniel Reavis, and great-granddaughter, Eris McCracken. Also surviving are two sisters, Jo Anne Bohannon and Yvonne Howell. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday June 29, 2012 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University Blvd. Donations may be made to Trinity or to Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
