Obituary
Ernest V. Fimbres beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and educator passed away peacefully on February 21, 2011, surrounded by family. Born on April 12, 1922 in Tucson, Arizona, eldest of eight children. Preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Aurelia Fimbres and brothers, Gilbert and Manuel. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Colleen; siblings, Carlos (Martha), Rudy (Carole), Mary (John), Federico and Gloria and sister-in-law, Irene; children, Ernest, Michael, Lynda and Karen (Michael); three grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII, served in the Pacific Theatre and was a member of the Navy boxing team. He graduated from the U of A with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. Ernest spent 31 years as an educator in TUSD as a teacher, then school principal of Cavett, Drachman, Hollinger, and Bloom Elementary Schools. He retired in 1982 to spend time with family, friends and traveling. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor and stories, but mostly for his wonderful dedication to family. We'll forever miss you. Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
