Eunice Willamson Obituary

WILLIAMSON, Eunice died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 8, 2016 after a sudden stroke. Eunice was born on April 16, 1930 to George W. Zellar, a Southern Pacific Railroad conductor, and his wife, Olive, in Tucson, Arizona. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed. A proud Tucsonan, she graduated early from Tucson High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, Peter, in February of 1951. During their courtship they loved to skate at the Pastime Park Roller Rink. She worked for the Southern Arizona Bank before becoming a full time homemaker. Eunice was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years. As a devout Christian, she imparted the importance of a relationship with God to her family. She was a founding member of Olana Temple No. 131 Daughters of the Nile and was a 50 year member of Arizona Chapter No. 2 Order of Eastern Star. She made many dear lifelong friendships in these organizations as well as in the Sagebrush Homemakers Club. She was a skilled seamstress, knitter and baker -- especially pies! Eunice passed on these skills to many loved ones. In her later years, she enjoyed shopping at estate sales, telling stories, and spending time with family. Later in life, she surprised her family by becoming an avid U of A basketball fan. She is survived by her true love, Peter G. Williamson, with whom she just celebrated 65 years of marriage; her three children, Christine (Curt) Lawrence, Nancy (Tim) Funk, Peter Williamson; grandchildren, Goldie (Mark) Mitchell, Taylor (Jason) Palin, great-granddaughter, Sayre Mitchell, her beloved nieces, Sharon Heidel, Linda Corral, Linda Carlson and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by siblings, Irene Noonan and George Zellar. She was predeceased by sisters, Dora Turner, Pearl Mayo, Marvelle Zellar and Olive Eagle. A private family service has already taken place. Donations may be made in honor of Eunice Williamson to the Wings on Words Foundation, P.O. Box 391, 202 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85702 Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel. -
