Florence Howe

Florence A. Howe 91, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born in Red Wing, MN on April 27, 1920, and raised in Ellsworth, WI until she moved to Tucson in 1945. Florence graduated from the University of Arizona and taught elementary school in Morenci and TUSD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Howe and brother, Alvin Pearson. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Robert) Cavazos and Melissa (John) Walsh; grandsons, Robert and Ryan Cavazos, John and Matthew Walsh; brothers, Carl Pearson, Arthur (Gerry) Pearson, and Donald (Sandie) Pearson; sister-in-law, Arlene Pearson and numerous nieces and nephews. She remained a devoted teacher in all aspects of her life, which included various church ministries, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers' Association and volunteer work at Cragin Elementary School. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1200 N. Campbell Ave. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Marilyn Ascarza officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in honor of Florence's life be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Education Program or the Educational Enrichment Foundation.
