Glenn Hermann

HERMANN, Glenn born January 3, 1920, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2016. Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice Pearson. He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Greg; daughter, Cindy and son-in-law, Bob. Glenn's grandchildren include: John Hermann (Jennifer), Tony Arnold (Kristina), David Hermann (Megan), April Stanford (Justin), Rachel Waskom and 11 great-grandchildren. Glenn was born near Alma, Wisconsin and enjoyed a wonderful childhood on his parents' farm. He was an accomplished musician, playing a variety of instruments in several polka/big band groups. Glenn hopped a freight train to California and began working in the aircraft industry. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 serving in the Philippines and Japan with the 25th Infantry Division, and fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Returning to Wisconsin, he met and married Irene Mork in 1948. He worked for Buffalo County (WI) for several years, but in 1963 the family relocated to Tucson, AZ. Glenn worked at Pima Mine for 20 years before retiring and spending time camping, crafting and enjoying family celebrations. He was very strong in his faith and active in his church. He was a founding member of Water of Life Christian Retreat Center and was regularly involved in Christian outreach activities. Glenn and Irene's love for each other was an inspiration to all. His sense of humor was memorable and his keen mind was unmatched. In lieu of gifts, Glenn's family requests donations be made to Fountain of Life Lutheran Church or the Gospel Rescue Mission. Glenn's Memorial Service will be held at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
