The family wishes to announce the death of Hortensia B. Rodriguez age 95, who passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2017, at the caring and loving Casa Palo Duro retirement home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Winkelman, Arizona on March 30, 1922 and a longtime resident of Catalina, Hortensia was the mother to three children: Ernie, Rachel and Patricia, and wife to Ernesto Rodriguez, her honey of 66 years. Hortensia’s boundless commitment to family, friends and faith, shined throughout her entire life as she devoted her years to raising her family, starting and singing in her church choir at the Santa Catalina Catholic Church, and promoting her community’s health as a founding member of the Catalina Health Clinic and Santa Catalina Mission. In everything she did, Hortensia did it with a laugh and her reassuring smile, always keeping others in mind, and supporting those in need. The space left by Hortensia will never be filled, but her legacy of dedication to loved ones and a life of service to others lives on in her surviving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as proof of what one can achieve when staying committed to their values. A rosary for Hortensia will be held Friday, June 9th at 7 pm, and a mass Saturday June 10, at 10:00 am. Both services will be held at the Santa Catalina Catholic Church located at 14380 N. Oracle Road in Tucson. Burial services will be held immediately after mass at Holy Hope Cemetery.
