Howard "Buddy" Martin There are not many of our precious World War II veterans left and we lost another one, our Dad, on July 12, 2015. Howard "Buddy" Martin served in the US Navy during World War II from January 14, 1941 to March 3, 1947. He served on the USS Vulcan, USS Pennsylvania and others. Buddy was born in Erwin, Tennessee on August 25, 1924. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant Marion Martin and Mamie Phillips Martin; sister, Helen Bailey and step son, Robert Wayne Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Connie Lee Martin; his sister, Hazel Lovette (Ernest); children, Sharon Martin Battaglini, Patricia Martin Villamana (Robert) and Howard Grant Martin, Jr. (Elizabeth); step children, Byron Nevene Hanson, Lorelei Lyn Hanson, Muriel Lee Anne Hanson and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He bought his home in Tucson across from Randolph Park in 1947 and moved his young family to Tucson in 1952. After his Navy service, he worked at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base as an electrician until 1970. Buddy passed away at the Southern Arizona Veterans Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Burial was held on June 18, 2015, at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista with military honors. We are thankful for the time we had our father and know that he now is in the presence of our Lord. Our love for him and our precious memories will always remain. Dad was always helping people have a better life - he would give you the shirt off his back even if it was his only one. We miss you Pops! Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel
