J. Scott Coverdale Tucson, Arizona Obituary

J. Scott Coverdale

COVERDALE, J. Scott, went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2013, at the age of 83. He earned a Master's in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and served in the US Navy. His rich and interesting life included being a (real live) rocket scientist, a college professor, the director of Hy-Lake Camps, and the founder of Calvary Missionary Press in Tucson. Scott loved hiking in God's glorious outdoors and has led scores of friends and family on wild adventures on the trails throughout the southwest. Scott wholeheartedly offered his life in service to the Lord Jesus Christ, to his family, and to each person in his path. He longed to see the love of God spread in all places and in all peoples' hearts, and he used his talents, creativity and determined spirit to this end. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Coverdale; his four children, 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Many thanks to the compassionate workers of Soreo Pathways Hospice, and to Bridget Anderson, Joan Slocum, and Julie Harden, who gave so much encouragement during these difficult final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Child Evangelism Fellowship, at Box 12012, Tucson, AZ 85732. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian at 2450 E Fort Lowell Road. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
