Jack Deweese

DEWEESE, Jack Alvah, died January 31, 2013 in Tucson. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on September 14, 1923, to Ralph Andrew (Andy) DeWeese and Mabel Hall Whetstone DeWeese. Jack was reared from infancy by loving grandparents, Alvah C. and Etna Jane DeWeese. Jack was a graduate of Indiana University and a retiree of Hughes Aircraft Co., Tucson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Elba DeWeese and son, U.S. Army Spc., 4th Ci. Daniel Michael DeWeese. He is survived by sons, Jack Andrew DeWeese and David Scott DeWeese (Marcy) of Tucson and relatives in Mt. Vernon and Evansville, IN. Jack was a veteran of WWII. He loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and backpacking in the western states and Alaska. He and son, Jack Andrew retraced the route of the Klondike Gold Rush from Skagway, Alaska to Dawson City in the Yukon Territory. Jack was also a distance runner and a founding member and first Treasurer of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners. He enjoyed competing in all distance racing including marathons of 26.2 miles. Jack was a dedicated poker player with friends and associates in casinos and online. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to the Salvation Army, Spay and Neuter Solutions and Gospel Rescue Mission, Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
