Jack Flesher

Jack B. Flesher 10/19/1921 - 8/19/2011 A veteran of WWII, Jack was born in Friendly, W. VA to Lillian and Clyde Flesher, Sr. Moving to Tucson, AZ in 1952 with his wife, Betty and small daughter, Jack began working for Hughes Aircraft. He left after ten years when they wanted to transfer him to California, Tucson was his home. He then joined Martin-Marietta building silos surrounding Tucson. Another transfer another decline. He then went with the University of Arizona and while there, served as President of Saguaro Credit Union. He retired from the UofA after nearly 20 years. After enjoying retirement for about six months he decided to join AFLAC as an agent. During his 26 years with AFLAC he received many awards. Jack and Betty then traveled in their motor home visiting every state and spending a summer touring Alaska before deciding to spend their summer in Show Low, AZ. Jack loved cruising, traveling, playing cards and having coffee (tea) with his friends. He also looked forward to his Sunday morning breakfasts with his son, Mark. He was a 68 year member of Marshall Union Masonic Lodge #8 in Moundsville, WA. A charter member of Sabbar Shrine Temple and of the Lodge of Perfection Consistory in Tucson. Jacks main concern was with charities and organizations benefiting children and was also a 46 year supporter of the University of Arizona Athletics. His request would be that contributions be made to Sabbar Shrine Children's Travel Fund or to a charity of your choice. Jack never met a stranger. He has a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor and made friends easily wherever he went. He was a wonderful and thoughtful husband and a good father and friend. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clyde Flesher Jr. Jack is lovingly remembered and survived by the love of his life, Betty, his wife of 63 years; son, Mark (Bea) Flesher; daughters, Toni (Steve) Hays and Vickie Hartnett; grandchildren, Christopher Hays and Ryan (Kevin) Althoff, Casey Hartnett and extended family, Will Phillips and Ali Phillips. To all the nurses and staff of TMC's Peppi's Hospice, thank you for the wonderful care given to Jack and your kindness and compassion given to me and our family during this time. A Celebration of Jack's life will be held at Venture in RV Resort, 270 N. Clark Rd., Show Low, AZ on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Another will be held in Tucson at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
