James Peters Obituary

PETERS, James K., 77, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Jim is survived by wife, Betty; daughters, Debbie (Brad) Lousberg, Beverly (Tom) Bain, Susan (Tony) Riddle and Debbie Schnoeker; grandchildren, Audrey, James Derrill, Jamie Meeks and brother John (Elizabeth). He will be sadly missed by many relatives and numerous friends. Born on December 21, 1934 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Barton and Ophelia Peters, he grew up in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1956 with a degree in Industrial Management and served in the U.S. Army (active and reserves) from 1953 to 1961. He had a long career in the mining industry, working in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. He retired in 1992 from Pennzoil Corporation. He was a long-time member of the Elks Club, BPOE#2532. Jim was a devoted husband, father and granddad, and cherished his family. He will be remembered for his loving ways, clever sense of humor, passionate sense of patriotism, love of aviation, and ability to make people smile. He was strong, charismatic, and fought bravely through years of cancer and lung disease, and is an inspiration to all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Catalina Methodist Church 2700 E. Speedway in Tucson. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the American Cancer Society , American Lung Association , or Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
