June Wark Obituary

June Wark passed away peacefully at her home on January 3, 2011. She was born in Philadelphia in 1920 and her family moved to Detroit shortly thereafter. She was the third-born in a family of nine. She was a great beauty, and was part of the social whirl in high school, frequently making the society pages. While still in high school, she played the lead in a movie called It Happened in Detroit. In her late teens and twenties, she did a considerable amount of modeling for the Detroit department stores and big three auto companies. June married Hugh Fowler in 1937 and had a son, Hugh. In 1952, she married Ray Wark and helped raise Ray's son, Rick. During WWII and until 1956, June worked not only as a model but also in industry, wholesale apparel, and advertising, and in the early years helped support her younger siblings. In 1956 June and Ray moved to Farmington, Michigan and June played the role of hostess to many parties for friends and customers of Ray's steel business. June and Ray, after they moved to Tucson in 1984, were active members of the Skyline Country Club and enjoyed the amenities of the city, especially the Rillito Park race track. June is survived by her son, Hugh (Marie), children, Julia, Serena and David; her stepson, Rick (Cindy), children, Rob, Laura and Amanda; brothers, David and Bill Dingee; sisters, Blanche Connell and Marie Key; many nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us. June's family would like to express thanks for the excellent care provided her by her caregivers, by Carondelet, who provided hospice care and for the dedicated care and service done for June by Kim Howard over many years. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
