Margaret Gilliam Margaret "Maggie" Gilliam passed away Monday morning after a lengthy illness. She was born November 23, 1925, in Dryden, Washington, the youngest of ten children, to Henry and Martha Heimbigner. She married Don, her best buddy and fantastic husband in 1948. They celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2009. Over the years she kept very busy raising her two sons (a difficult job), and was active in various organizations including Soroptimist and The Red Hatters. Maggie and Don moved to Tucson in 1984 and enjoyed their retirement years golfing, traveling extensively, participating in shows at Trails West, and supporting women's sports at the University of Arizona, particularly softball. The last few months she resided at Casas Adobes Assisted Living. Mom loved and was loved by all the wonderful staff and residents of this small home. Our special thanks go to Lori and Esther who kept her looking so beautiful. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Douglas Gilliam (Tina) of Tucson and Randy (Terry) of Kirkland, Washington; three grandchildren, Kelly (Will), Kevin and Becky. She is also survived by her close friends at Trails West, Julie, Larry, Carol, Donna and many more. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Trails West Clubhouse at 8401 South Kolb Road in Tucson. A second service will be held in Washington State. Donations in her memory can be made to the Arizona Wildcats Softball Team c/o the University of Arizona Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel
