Marjorie Duncan Tucson, Arizona Obituary

Marjorie Duncan

DUNCAN, Marjorie Melville, died peacefully on April 9, 2012. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Bruce Duncan. She is survived by her three children, Cynthia McIntyre (Laird), Susan Duncan (Ed Gentley), Greg Duncan (Rene) and by seven grandchildren, Leslie McIntyre, Megan McIntyre (Jeff Matson), Christopher Nault (Emily), Carolyn Constant (Louis), Lauren Duncan, Kendyll Duncan and Kayla Duncan, as well as by three great-grandsons. Marge was born on 2/12/1918 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1940 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She taught kindergarten and first grade, beginning her teaching career in St. Louis and continuing to teach for over 30 years. On June 4, 1945 she married Bruce and began a fulfilling life as an Air Force wife. Marge and Bruce moved 10 times before retiring to Tucson, building friendships that lasted for decades. Their favorite tour of duty was in England. Marge was a 75 year member of P.E.O. and her P.E.O. sisters in Chapter BQ were a source of delight and encouragement. Marge's faith in God was the core of her being. She and Bruce joined St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in 1976, and their church community was an essential part of their lives. Marge volunteered in a variety of ministries over the years and participated with joy in the Friday morning women's Bible study. Marge had the gift of encouragement and was a wonderful friend to many. If she said she would pray for you, she did - right to the end of her life. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, gracious and generous, always interested and concerned about how family and friends were doing. She delighted in the beauty of God's world, but she also loved to shop and retained a wonderful sense of humor to the end of her life. We will miss her care and concern, her love and her generous spirit. We are so thankful for the love, faith and family traditions she and dad built into our lives. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's, 7650 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson 85704 with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, to P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, or to Interfaith Community Services. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel.
