Matthew Guild Tucson, Arizona Obituary

Matthew Guild

Matthew Hamilton Guild died in Tucson on Friday, June 15, 2012, at the age of 60. The third child of MaryAnn Guild nee Gibbs and Jerry H. Guild, Matt was born in San Diego, California on November 18, 1951. Consider him a third generation Arizonan (nearly fourth as his maternal great-grandmother came to Arizona as a young girl at the start of the 20th Century). Matt basically lived in Tucson all his life, and attended Tucson High School, as did his mother. Matt was not your average bear. He had a clearcut creed that he lived by, the specifics of which were fuzzy to most of us, but he adhered to it strictly. He was totally self-sufficient in every respect. His plan did not include marriage or children, but he was a loving, generous uncle to his niece, Ivy Guild. He worked in construction for decades, mostly for the City of Tucson. Matt is survived by his brothers, Christopher P. Guild and Peter C. Guild; his sister-in-law, Bonnie C. Gordon and his niece, Ivy. His parents and his sister, Nancy J. Guild, predeceased him. A private dinner will be held to celebrate his life. Gifts in his name can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
