Mike George Surrounded by those who loved him, Mike George left this earth after a short illness. Born on January 26, 1950, in Boston, to Richard and Bernice George, Mike called Tucson home for over 60 years. After joining Boy Scouts as a child, Mike earned his Eagle Scout and two Palms and never left the scouting world. He mentored and led a countless number of boys and girls through Scouts and Venture Crew over the last 40 years, and was ultimately honored with the Silver Beaver for his service. As a soccer and baseball coach, a Cub and Scout Master, and a Dive Master, Mike enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. Mike was a member of the first graduating class of Canyon Del Oro High School, attended the University of Arizona, and was enlisted in the Air National Guard before beginning his 29 year career at UPS. After retiring in 2005, he was able to pursue his love of scouting, SCUBA diving, volunteering, playing Santa Claus and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his father, Richard. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patti George; his sons, Ryan (Kim Evans), Christopher and Matt (Megan); grandchildren, Reagan, Kennedy and Owen; his mother, Bernice George; brothers, Larry (Sue), Tim, Kevin (Mary); sisters, Ellen Talkington (Jack) and Denise and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Mike will be remembered by his family and friends as the most generous, kind, genuine, man there ever was. His easy smile and infectious laugh will be forever imprinted on the hearts of all who knew him. The world is truly a better place for having had him in it. Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to "The Mike George Foundation for Scouting" at any Wells Fargo branch or to Boy Scout Troop 211.
