Ned Hutchison

HUTCHISON, Ned, 1931 – 2010, Mr. Hutchison died recently from complications of pulmonary fibrosis. He was a graduate of Washburn University in his hometown of Topeka, Kansas, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He graduated with degrees in Business and Political Science. He served as a navigator in the US Air Force (Strategic Air Command) in the 1950's. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 30 years. Following retirement, he co-founded Resource One, a foundation that promoted wellness in low-income children. He served as an Elder at Valley Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale and as President of the Desert Club of Tucson. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and the Tucson Men's Forum. He loved tennis, and had a large network of good friends. Later in life he discovered that he had talent for art and became an excellent sculptor (his talents are on display in the Eller College at the University of Arizona). He loved dancing with Mary, his wife of 55 years. He is survived by his wife; his sister, Monna Trusdale Bulkley; his children, Holly Hutchison (David Simm) and Dr. Scot Hutchison (Dr. Jennifer) and his grandchildren, Alex and Christine Cole, Stephen and Hannah Hutchison. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ned's memory to the Board of Visitors of St. Luke's in the Desert, Inc. P.O. Box 31596 Tucson, Arizona 85751. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
