Raymond Stewart Luety Obituary

Raymond Stewart Luety Born June 19, 1927 was called to peace on October 15, 2015 after a brave battle with lung cancer. He was 88 years young! Preceded in death by his parents Dr. William and Aletta Luety, his first wife Lisa and beloved son Raymond, Jr. Survived by his four children, Marc (Sandra), William, Rochelle (Neil), Roxanne (Conrad). His grandkids, Victoria, Marc Jr., Tierra, Gregory, Zachary, Matthew, Christopher; and great-grandkids, Madelyn, Dominic, Austin, Olivia and Raemi and his dearly loved wife and best friend, Diane. Ray grew up in Chicago enjoyed his summers in Wisconsin visiting family, farming, hunting and fishing. Upon graduating from Hirsh High School he joined the Navy. Afterwards, he hitched hiked across the country with friends ending up at Northern Arizona attending NAU where he played football and graduated with a Geology and Economic degree. He landed in Tucson where he had a long successful career as a broker in real estate becoming president of Multiple Listing, instrumental in many of the housing and business developments, eventually owning his own business, REAL-CO, selling in the commercial and land arena. Ray took up running, was involved with Road Runners Club and also officiated for many years at the U of A track and field meets and tournaments. Ray had a passion for adventure. He had many stories of his travels running on beaches, hiking in Belize and Costa Rica, climbing volcanoes in Hawaii, backpacking and kayaking in New Zealand (at age 73) fishing all over Mexico, getting shipping wrecked in Sea of Cortez, river rafting in the Grand Canyon and hiking in the Grand Teton Mountains along with many other destinations. Above all Dad's pride and joy was his family, he was our teacher, our rock and foundation most of all he was our HERO. No one could have asked for a better father. To say he will be missed is an understatement. All are invited to help us say our goodbyes to this wonderful man. Memorial services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, DODGE CHAPEL, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
