Richard Froede

FROEDE, Richard C., M.D., born in Milwaukee, WI on May 1, 1929 passed away February 9, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Suzanne; his daughter, Katherine; his son, David (Jennifer) and granddaughter, Katherine. Following graduation from Ripon College and Marquette University School of Medicine, Dick served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at several locations in the states, England and Germany. After retirement from the service with the rank of full Colonel, he taught pathology at the University of Arizona Medical School for 11 years while also serving as Chief Medical Examiner of Pima County and eight other AZ counties. Dick than spent five years in Washington, D.C. as a civilian Distinguished Scientist in Forensic Sciences and was named this country's first Armed Forces Medical Examiner. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues throughout the world. Donations may be made to the Tucson MOAA (Military Officer's Association of America) Chapter Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 15068 Tucson, AZ 85708 or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. Tucson, AZ.
