Richard Sipel Obituary

Richard Guy Sipel 90, of Tucson, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Villa Compana in Tucson. He was born in Troy, N.Y., June 21, 1920, the oldest of four children of the late Guy and Christina (Rymiller) Sipel. He had a long career as an engineer with the U.S. Arsenal in Watervliet, N.Y., and then with IBM in Endicott, NY and Tucson. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his first two wives, Arlene Dorothy (Smith) and Ann Elizabeth "Nancy" (Harnett) and by a brother, Harry. He is survived by his third wife, Helen Locke Sipel and by two sisters, Eleanor (the late Anthony) Malinoski and Frances (the late Paul) Perreault, both of Troy, NY. and by five children, Sandra Arlene (Robert) La Claire of Greensboro, GA, Nancy Louise (Roger) Miller of Menomonee Falls, WI, Christine Caldwell of Tucson, Katherine Sipel of Endwell, NY and Richard (Lory) Sipel of Fountain Hills, AZ; 12 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and by a stepdaughter, Sandi (the late James) Taylor of Tempe. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson.
