Sidney Showalter

Sidney Lee Showalter of Tucson, Arizona, passed away March 15, 2012. He was born June 8, 1923 in Kaiowa OK and raised in Moundridge, KS. He is survived by Lucille, his wife of 59 years. He is also survived by daughter, Norma (Michael Bolchalk); Timothy and Lee (Bev); granddaughters, Anne Bolchalk, Julia Bolchalk and Emma Bolchalk; grandson, Michael Showalter; granddaughter, Erica Naples; great-granddaughter, Madeline Quinlan; sister, Kathy Eshnauer (Gilroy, CA) and brother, Ralph (Reno, NV). He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Maggie Showalter; his brother, Robert and sister, Ruth. Sid proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 - 1945. He worked as a switchman for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 32 years. He was a past member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Elks and Westerners International. He contributed his talents to Habitat for Humanity and was an active member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to very many. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel.
