Stuart Fordyce Obituary

FORDYCE, Stuart W., entered into God's glory on October 3, 2011. He was born in Gilmore Twp., MI on October 7, 1930. Stuart was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Dorothy Fordyce; parents, Earl and Mary Fordyce and brother, Robert Fordyce. He is survived by sons, David Fordyce and John (Marissa) Fordyce; Dutch son (exchange student) Henry Calf; grandchildren, Hannah, Amanda, and Ryan Fordyce. Stuart graduated from Mt. Pleasant (MI) High School. He served in the USAF stateside during the Korean conflict, where he received training and worked as a ground vehicle mechanic. He received his Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, and went on to teach Industrial Arts at Coleman (MI) and Bridgeport-Spaulding (MI) high schools for more than 30 years. Stuart loved to impart his knowledge and had great patience in working with his students. Stuart retired to spend summers in Au Gres (MI) and winters in Tucson (AZ). Eventually, he moved permanently to Tucson, and enjoyed the climate and retirement community. He still traveled back to Michigan often to visit with family and friends. Stuart was a loving husband, father and friend who took great pride in everything he did. Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held later to place his ashes alongside those of his wife at their cemetery plot in Michigan. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff and his friends at Fairwinds Desert Point for their compassion and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a veteran's agency or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
