Theodore Buller Tucson, Arizona Obituary

Theodore Buller

Theodore Neil Buller 03/18/1925 - 07/02/2012 In November 1943, Ted joined the U.S. Army at 17 years old, after fibbing about his age to get into the service. He did a full tour of Europe and suffered from dysentery, frostbite, and a broken back at the Battle of the Bulge. On his return trip from Europe, he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for many weeks in the Suez Canal until 1946. Shortly after his tour, he met and married June Underwood from Gig Harbor, WA. They had one son, Elton Neil of Tucson, AZ and daughter, Arla K. (Mike) Henley of Seattle, WA. After years of working at the Bremerton Navy Shipyard in WA, Ted, with a 9th grade education, moved his family to Pomeroy, WA where he ran the Holiday Bowling Lanes and June owned the Fashionette Ladies Apparel Shop. Years later Ted owned and managed the Nob Hill Lanes Restaurant & Lounge in Yakima, WA. They both retired to Lake Cushman and then moved back to Gig Harbor, WA until the time of June's death. Ted had a full life of travel and fishing with his son, Elton, as well as his many other buddies. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, bowling and driving a wheat truck in the summers for the Ruchert family in Pomeroy, WA. Elton and Arla know that their dad would once again like to thank those of Garfield County and friends we considered family for all of their support in our family's unexpected time of need in 1968. Having been friends for over 40 years, Ted got reacquainted in the year 2000, with Doris Keatts from Walla Walla, WA. Having both lost their spouses, Doris, a retired RN and Veteran's Hospital Surgical Nurse, became Ted's companion of 12 years. Our family is honored to have Doris in our lives. Her dedication to our father throughout his long illness is surpassed by none. Ted and Doris have lived in Tucson, AZ since 2004, at the Trails West Gated Community. Ted is also survived by three sisters, Vera Siegert Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; Georgia (Marlow) Haugan of Silverdale WA; and Willa (Mike) Meljde of Bremerton, WA and their families. Our companion; our leader; our mentor; our Father - he was and always will be the man we will always love and respect. He was the man; the man named Ted Buller.
