Trinkle Hastings was born Harriet Ann Sutliff on a farm near Terre Haute, IN in 1910. Her family moved to Oregon when she was three and she grew up mostly in Portland. She went to the University of Chicago where she earned a BA in Fine Arts and an MA in Comparative Religion. She met Russell Hastings at the university and they were married in 1936. They moved to Tucson in 1939, where Russell became an architect. Trinkle taught kindergarten and then elementary school, and also led a girl scout troop. She was also a painter, doing mostly portraits in oil during her early years in Tucson, then later did mostly landscapes in watercolor. She was active in the Tucson Fine Arts Society in the 1940s. She and Russell had four children, Carolyn, now deceased, also Nora Lee, Phillip, and Russell. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Private Service.
