Walter Seastone

Walter Seastone. Walt died at home on January 29, 2014, of cancer. He was born June 23, 1929, in Denver, CO, to Arthur and Estelle Seastone. He grew up in Denver and graduated from West High School. In 1948, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Staff Sgt. in the Korean War. Afterward, Walt returned to Denver and worked at Dow Chemical, where he met the "love of his life" and future wife, Elizabeth (Liz). They married in 1956 and raised their four children in Boulder. Walt joined IBM-Boulder in the 1960's. He was active in the Colorado Democratic Party. In 1978, Walt and Liz moved to Tucson with IBM; and he retired in 1990. He loved playing golf, gardening, UA sports, and spending time with Liz until her death in 2008. Walt is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Buckner (Gordon), Patricia Marshall (John), and Michelle Byerley (Tim); son, Brian Seastone (Kory); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his loyal canine companion, Cruise. A celebration of Walt's life will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 3:00 p.m. at Holsclaw Recital Hall at the University of Arizona School of Music. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Southern Arizona Humane Society, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716, in memory of Walt Seastone, or to any charity of choice .
