Wayne Nelson Obituary

NELSON, Wayne Everett, was born on December 14, 1947 in Spokane, Washington to Everett and Lois Nelson. He died June 21, 2017 in Tucson, Arizona. Wayne attended schools in Spokane, graduating from Rogers High School and Gonzaga University. Wayne enlisted in the Navy following high school and served six years. Wayne began his career working for Spokane County for seven years before attending Gonzaga. After receiving his B.S., he moved to Alaska and worked for Lower Kuskokwim School District as Purchasing Agent. He then worked for University of Idaho, lastly as Assistant Director of Facilities Maintenance. After 18 years in Moscow, Wayne moved to Tucson. He worked for the City of Tucson, most recently as Facilities Contract Manager. Wayne was always working on restoring an old truck and was something of a genius when it came to engines. He could diagnose and fix anything and was always willing to help anyone. Over the years, he could always be found in the garage listening to classical music with a tool in his hand. Wayne married Stephanie McRae in 1982. They divorced after 28 years of marriage and remained good friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Warren; his father, Everett Nelson; his mother, Lois Ceder and his nephew, Brandon Power. Wayne will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his loyalty, trustworthiness and most of all, his sense of humor. We will miss him and forever be repeating his "Wayneisms." A graveside service will be held at a later date in Thornton, Washington. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
