William Kitts Obituary

William “Bill” Kitts lost his courageous battle with Leukemia and passed away on April 11th in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 68. Bill was born on February 24, 1947 in Roanoke, VA to William and Orquidea Kitts. He graduated from Granite Hills School in El Cajon, CA in 1965. Following high school, he joined the United States Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star. Following his military service, Bill relocated to Tacoma, Washington. Bill spent most of his life in Tacoma married to Vicki Kitts, building a family and successful business. He had two sons, Shawn and Nicholas Kitts. While being a small business owner can consume most of your time, Bill loved to spend time with his family on the water or in the mountains enjoying outdoor activities. Another passion of Bill’s was his yard. At times, he made it his life’s work to have the best yard in the neighborhood. After “retiring”, Bill relocated to Tucson, Arizona with his partner Marilyn Lichty. It was in the Arizona weather, where he could pursue his love for motorcycles and hiking with Marilyn. He was fortunate to have his Arizona family that included Shelby and Jennifer Lichty. He was a generous man who loved helping others. Bill enjoyed traveling especially to Key West, FL to visit his mother and family. Bill was blessed to have a wonderful “blended” family that loved him deeply. His grandkids will always cherish their time spent with Abuelo on the trail or sitting on the patio. To honor his memory, the family enjoyed a hike along his favorite trail and gathered with friends at his favorite restaurant. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Northwest Medical. The passion and care they showed was remarkable. Special thanks to Amy Strocsher for being an anchor for the family. Finally, we are grateful for his sister Carmen Kitts for the extra time we were able to spend with Bill.
