DE WITT, Gerald R. "Dewey" 93, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017. Dewey was born in Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois to Lena Alberta Brewer and Dexter Leon De Witt. He is survived by three stepsons, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dewey was preceded in death by his son, Dennis De Witt; sister, Frances Louise De Witt and wife, Judith Whipple Todd. Dewey gave 20 years to the United States Navy followed by a career in the United States Border Patrol. He settled in his later years to become a talented wood carver for which he won countless awards. Though generally a man of few words, Dewey could always be counted on for a good joke and the art of his storytelling enraptured all those who listened. Dewey had a mischievous smile and a heart full of love with which he gave those he cared for his everything. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
