Irving Rosen Obituary

ROSEN, Irving 92, died on March 4, 2017, in Tucson. Our beloved Irving is survived by his children, Eric and Nancy; his loving partner, Dellora (Dee); son-in-law, Bob; grandsons, Sam and Josh; and sister-in-law, Joyce. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Alma, who died of cancer in 2000, and second wife Naomi, who also died of cancer in 2007. Irving was a graduate of Brooklyn College, BA in 1947; Indiana University, MS in 1949; and Indiana University, PhD (Chemistry) in 1951. His wife, Alma, attended the same colleges for BA and MS programs along with Irving. He was a member of the Brooklyn College Alumni Association, Tucson Chapter. Irving worked at Diamond Shamrock, Painesville, Ohio, in Chemical Research Management - Organic and Polymer Chemistry. He thereafter worked at The Standard Oil Company of Ohio (subsequently BP America), Warrensville Heights Ohio. He was a holder of 50 US patents and numerous foreign patents, and was a US Representative to the Atomic Energy Conference in Warsaw, Poland in 1959. He was also an Ameritas member of American Chemical Society. Irving was a veteran of WW2, who served proudly in the counterintelligence core of the 14th Armored Division 3rd Army in the European theatre. He greatly enjoyed living at the Fountains with Dee and experiencing the sense of community there during the last four years. Irving's favorite interests included playing bridge, dancing, attending movies, traveling, and being with family and friends. He was a wonderful, loving father who cared deeply about his family and children. He was also known for his intelligence, quick wit, and charm. We grieve terribly at our loss of his companionship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association'). Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lobby of the Fountains, 2001 W. Rudasill Rd, Tucson, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.
