Pedro Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Pedro R. 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, he married the love of his life, Enedina, in 1950 and moved to Tucson where they raised six children. Pedro is survived by his children, Concepción, Lourdes (Joe Machado), Pedro Jr. (Karen Burns), Gloria (Blas Valdez), Alba and Barbara (Martín Escobar), 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and ten of his 11 siblings. Pedro was passionate in his support of organized labor and collective bargaining as the way to empower people to change their lives. He was a member of the Laborers' International Union Local #479 and the Teamsters all his working life. That carried over to his work to advocate for policies and legislation to effect necessary change. He was involved with the Democratic Party and tirelessly supported the leaders whom he felt embodied the party's ideals, steadfast in his views and beliefs. Pedro loved to play his guitar and spend time with friends and family. He spent many years as a member of the Club Unidos, a non-profit charitable organization that helped families in their time of need. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their loving care. Our father was very grateful for their attention and compassionate support. A Memorial Mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #180. We will all miss you dearly, beloved Papá & Tata. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.
