Billy Fields, 79, of Atkins, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his home. He was born May 4, 1934, in Atkins, son of the late Jess William and Ollie Mae McVay Fields. He was a lifetime member of the Atkins Riding Club and loved riding horses, playing music, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; a sister; and a son. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Fields; 2 daughters, Tammy and husband James Heflin, and Tracey Hamrick; sister, Jeff Hawkins; grandchildren, Chance Heflin, Chrystal Heflin, Cameron Hamrick, Noah Hamrick, Angie Forrest, April Agner, and Tres Hamrick; 3 great-grandchildren, Sadie Minton, Kenzi Hamrick and Logan Hamrick; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Roy Chisum officiating. Burial is in Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday. Pallbearers are Odell Chronister, Chance Heflin, A.R. “Punk” Cooksey, Cameron Hamrick, Noah Hamrick, Ricky Alexander and Joel Alexander.
