Chuck Colflesh Obituary

Chuck Colflesh, 81, of Atkins, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born December 28, 1930, in Worthington, Ohio, son of the late Charles Hadley and Alta Marcella Moses Colflesh and a Free Will Baptist. He moved to Atkins September 7, 1993 from Hemet, California. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force 36th Fighter Bomber Wing, Furstenfeldbruck, Germany and the C.A. Colflesh sales agency, selling wholesale automotive parts. Chuck loved Atkins from the moment he first came to the town in 1985 as a vacationer. He was two-time past President of the PBA “People for a Better Atkins” 1999 and 2004, past President of the Atkins Lions Club 1999-2000, and Secretary of The Cross and Shield Ministries. He helped to promote the Neighborhood Watch program and his pet project was coordinating the Atkins Meals on Wheels program. His awards include California Sales Agency of the Year 1987 and 1991, Atkins 1996 PBA Citizen of the Year, and Russellville Community Alliance Volunteerism Award 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Maxine Ulrey Colflesh, five brothers, two sisters, and his son, Gordon Michael Colflesh. He is survived by many loving and caring nephews and nieces, his church family at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Atkins and a very special friend, Gladys Brown. Funeral services are 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 7 at Lemley Chapel with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial with military honors is in Oakland Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday. Pallbearers are Danny Reed, Paul Brixey, Bro Price, Roy Pitts, Brian Hartley, and Kevin Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck’s Senior Adult Sunday School Class, members of the PBA and the Atkins Lions Club. Chuck hoped that his friends and family would remember him as he was in life.
