Darlene Embry

Darlene Embry, 74, of Atkins, died Friday, September 24, 2010, at her home. She was born February 7, 1936, the daughter of Frank Henry and Jewell Marie Miller Henningfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atkins, Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader. She also taught Bible study at the Atkins Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gene and Howard Henningfield, and a sister, Mae Ruble. She is survived by her husband, Gay Embry of Atkins; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Bill Sorrels of Tulsa, Martha and Dr. H.L. (Doc) Hall of Mena; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Angela Kindrick of Dover; stepsons Gaylord and wife, Rita of Mound City, Kansas, Jeff and Darla Embry of Atkins; brother, Richard Henningfield of Washington, Iowa; sisters, Sharon Squires of Centerville, Iowa, Marilyn Henningfield of Kansas City, Kansas, and Nancy Scoffield of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Chris and Casey Sorrels, Clint Kindrick, Candice Henderson, Tara Gibson, Trevor Cooper, Andrea Kindrick, Ben and Will Embry, Anna Parks and Rebecca Embry; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Ardyn, Abron, Danson, Will, Luke, Taylor, Drew, Isabella, Sophia, Cole and Layton. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, at the First Baptist Church of Atkins, the Rev. Scott Tyler officiating. Visitation is 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday. Burial is in Atkins City Cemetery, arrangements by Lemley Funeral Service. Pallbearers are Bobby Barber, Paul Foshee, Howard Gibson, Turner Harelson, Buck Harris, Bobby Pitts, and Ed Whitted. Honorary pallbearers are the First Baptist Youth Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 North Church Street, Atkins, AR 72823, or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 10403, Russellville, AR 72812.
