Diane Turney Smith, 50, of Atkins died Friday, August 20, 2010, at home. She was born in Russellville on May 23, 1950 the daughter of Jimmy Dow and Edith Mae Harris Cowan. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Dow Cowan, her stepfather, Pete Sbabo, her daughters, Tammy and infant Baby Turney. She was a homemaker, but for years she worked at the local nursing homes, and loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Clarence A. Smith of Atkins, 2 sons: Glendale Turney(Christy Haralson) of Atkins, Jeremy Wayne Smith (Samantha Harris) of Atkins, 2 daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bruce Watkins, Jr. of Jerusalem, Tanya Turney of Atkins,3 brothers, Ray Cowan of Oklahoma, Jimmy Cowan of Dover and Jessie Cowan of Arlington, TX, 5 sisters, Shirley Mae Lewis of Russellville, Dore Mason of Russellville, Mary Turney of Hector, Rose Mary Herdman of Russellville and Lisa Crites of Dardanelle, grandchildren, Brittany, Arlon, and Alexis Turney, Kaylynn, Lisa and Bruce Watkins III, Ryan , Bailey, Loppe and Jayla Fondren, Haley and Braydan Smith. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Lemley Chapel with the Rev. William Fynn officiating. Burial will be at Ford Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday. Pallbearers will be Weston Gaddy, Eddie Lewis, David Herdman, Tony Scissom, Daniel Herdman, Tom Turney, Bobby Scissom, James Moore. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gary Turney.
