Earlene Peak

Earlene Peak, 74, of Atkins, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born July 3, 1940, in Atkins, daughter of the late Jesse and Orene Whitesides Henderson. She was a member of the Bells Chapel United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was Valedictorian of her high school class and an honor graduate of Arkansas Tech University. She retired from the Pope County Library where she served as the Assistant Director. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working in her yard, and was a devoted follower of Christ who dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James David Peak; 2 sons, David Peak and wife Nichole of Bryant, and Jim Peak and Roxanne Price of Atkins; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Peak, Haylee and Seth Cochran, and Cody Peak; 2 sisters, Jeaneane and husband Jerry Markham, and Linda Roper; 2 nieces, Kelly Van Es and Karen Cook; and special friend, Shirley Fletcher. Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 9, at Bells Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Von Dell Mooney officiating. Burial is in Bells Chapel Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday. Pallbearers are Thomas Willcutt, Eric Sweeden, Brian Sweeden, Jason Cook, Kevin Van Es, and Jerry Markham. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the Bells Chapel United Methodist Church, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Judy Murphy, Pope County Chair, 126 Lakeview Circle, Russellville, AR 72802.
