Eugene R. Signs, 80, of Atkins, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the Legacy Lodge Nursing Center in Russellville. He was born April 2, 1935, in Ovid, Michigan, and was the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Scoby Signs. He was a member of the Atkins First Assembly of God Church and was retired after 20 years in the US Navy, having served in Korea and Viet Nam. He retired E-6.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Roberta Weible; a son, Cary Don Signs; a daughter, Tarita Engle; a brother, Dale Signs; and a step-daughter, Wanda Owens.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dorothy Signs; three brothers, Bill Signs, Dennis Signs, Richard Signs; a sister, Chryl; two step-daughters, Shirley (Alfred) Thomas, Cindy (Carroll) Rhoads; grandsons, John Paul Sutton, James Reid; Granddaughter, Elizabeth Bahnas, four great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Lemley Chapel with the Rev. Brian Ryals and Rev Henry Bateman officiating. Burial will be in the Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016, at Lemley Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Martin, Kirk Rose, Alfred Thomas, Carroll Rhoads, Jim Welch and Jeremiah Johnson.
