Frances Smith

Frances D. Smith, 62, of Atkins, departed this life with amazing grace and entered life eternal to receive her long awaited reward Monday, May 18, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Born November 13, 1946, in Griffin Flat Community, she was the daughter of the late E. E. and Lela Ashmore Bower. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Price and a grandson, David Wesley Francis III. She worked for the Atkins School District for 10 years, and was a member of the Atkins First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by a husband of 45 years, Charles L. Smith; three daughters Lisa Pew and husband, Jeff, Charlotte Sax and husband, Gene, and Melissa Sims; grandchildren, Ethan Bratton, Corey and Braden Garrett, Savannah and Nick Bottoms, Jessica Rynberg, Katrina Mitchell and husband, Chad, James Sax, Kimberly Sax, Gene “Little Man” Sax III, and a great-grandson, Blake Mitchell; a brother, Kenneth Bower and wife, Eva; two sisters, Mary Silvers and husband, Bill, and Martha Flory and husband, Darrell. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Atkins First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Sam Niemann and Rev. Buddy Little officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery north of Atkins by Lemley Funeral Service. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Ethan Bratton, Braden Garrett, Corey Garrett, Nick Bottoms, Jeff Pew and Gene Sax. Honorary Bearers will be nephews, Dr. Chris Horan, Dr. Thomas Sneed and nurses of the Oncology Staff, and the Nurses and Staff of St. Mary’s Hospital.
