Gerald Clyde Brewer, 68, of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He was born in Blackburn August 18, 1941, the son of Burl Clyde and Donna Weir Brewer. He was the General Manager for Grable Oil Co. in Little Rock and retired at age 50. Gerald came from the mountains as a 10 year old child and he always wanted to return to them. He loved to take long drives and look at all the beautiful creation that God put together He was a peacemaker. He never wanted people to be upset. He wanted everyone to be happy. He loved to have fun and tease and joke, to make people laugh. He enjoyed people. If you were ever in his presence you were going to laugh one time or another. Gerald was a giver. He delighted in giving something to anyone who needed it or not. He loved for you to come and sit at the table to share food and fellowship. And when you needed to leave or go home, he made sure you took something to eat with you. He was not a good receiver. He would much rather give than receive. Gerald was a friend to many from the valley to the mountains. When he told you something you could believe that he meant it. He had a huge heart. He never complained to his friends, he just wanted them to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. And that he did! He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Christopher Brewer I. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loretta Brewer; one brother, Dr. Jimmy Brewer and wife Peggy of CA; one grandson, Christopher Brewer II and wife Christy of Fort Bliss, TX; one granddaughter, Diana Riley and husband Tyler of Travis A.F.B, CA; and four great-grandchildren, Callie, Cara (Care Bear), Bradley and Elizabeth. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Lemley Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be open Saturday before the funeral.
