Gwendolyn Singleton Obituary

Gwendolyn Singleton, 78, of Dover died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She was born in Oak Grove on April 21, 1932, the daughter of Richard and Velma Pierce Johnson. She was a member of Bakers Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gary and Terry Singleton; and a brother, Dolphis Johnson. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Herbert E. “Sad” Singleton; a sister, Dortha Lee Griffin; grandchildren, Richard “Ritchie” and wife Pam Singleton, Stephanie Singleton, and Justin and wife Melissa Singleton; great-grandsons, Clay Singleton, Chance Stines, and Chase Stines; great-granddaughters, Terri Singleton, Kaylee Singleton, and Whitley Singleton; and two daughters-in-law, Lequitta Jones and Mona Berry. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Dover Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Herb Tilley and Rev. Jimmy L. Chronister officiating. Burial is in Hudson Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday. Pallbearers are Paul Singleton, Rick Johnson, Brian Roach, Sage Whitelaw, Terry Brumbelow, and Bill George. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Chronister, Kirk Griffin, Todd George and Hal Griffin.
