Harold Russell Obituary

Harold Russell, 88, of Atkins, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his home. He was born October 30, 1926, in Atkins, son of the late W.M. and Anna Mae Russell. He was a retired truck driver and worked for Inter-City Transit Bus Co. In his later years, he raised cattle and drove for Atkins Public Schools. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, H.N. “Joe” Russell, Jr.; daughter, Patsy Egger; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia Martin Russell; 2 daughters, Peggy and husband Keith Hern of Hot Springs, and Janis Davis of Atkins; son, Randy Russell of New Orleans, Louisiana; brother, Buddy Russell and wife Carol of Atkins; 2 sisters, Edith Roer of Buckeye, Arizona, and Wilma Colburn of Belleville; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at Lemley Chapel 11:00 AM, Friday, May 29, with Rev. Charlie Bird officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services with arrangements by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Pope County Department of Health Hospice – Glenda, Teresa, Anne, Dianne, Amy, Rita, Paula and Regina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Pope County Department of Health Hospice, 404 North El Paso Avenue, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.
