Herbert E. “Sad” Singleton, 89, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock with his family by his side. He was born August 5, 1928, in Atkins, son of the late Herbert Ernest Singleton, Sr. and Myrtle Morris Singleton. He was a member and deacon of the Bakers Creek Free Will Baptist Church, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and enjoyed watching his family and friends compete in rodeo competitions. He was very active in all of the lives of his grandchildren, they were his passion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Singleton; his parents; 5 brothers; 2 sons, Terry Singleton and Gary Singleton; and his lifelong friend, Ottis Clifton Mackey. He is survived by 2 daughters-in-law, Mona and husband Stan Berry, and Lequitta and husband Wayne Jones; 2 sisters-in-law, Dortha Lee Griffin, and Betty Singleton; 3 grandchildren, Richard Singleton and wife Pam, Stephanie and husband Paul Williams, and Justin Singleton and wife Melissa; 8 great-grandchildren, Clay Singleton, Chance Stines, Terri Singleton, Chase Stines, Kaylee Singleton, Whitley Singleton, Sadie Singleton, and Porter Singleton; great-great-granddaughter, Aubree Stines; 9 nieces and nephews, Doyle Singleton, Paul Singleton, Barbara Cox, Gwendolyn LaJune Gray, Suzanne Bland, Rick Johnson, Donna Eubanks, Shelbia Morrow, and Kirk Griffin; and many other family and friends. Funeral services are 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Herb Tilley and Rev. David Downum officiating. Burial is in Hudson Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Paul Singleton, Terry Brumbelow, Weldon Moore, Stan Berry, Bazzel Bates, Jerry Standridge, Benny Parks, and John Paul Singleton. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Singleton, Larry Eubanks, Rick Johnson, Dale Meek, Donald Meek, Euel Roberts, Jason Leavell, Robert Paul Leavell, Wade Walters, Keith Walters, Keith Chronister, Bill Austin, Bill Smith, Dee Lloyd, Steve Bates, Paul Williams, and Wayne Jones.
