Ira Thomas, Jr., 90, of Jerusalem, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at his home. He was born October 5, 1922, in Conway County, the son of Ira M. and Ivalee Gilbert Thomas. He was a Navy veteran and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline Thomas; great-grandson, Colby Thomas; and 3 brothers, Bill, Louis and Carlton (Tolly) Thomas. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Mona Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Mark Lingle, all of Jerusalem; grandchildren, Lance and Debbie Thomas, Amanda and Greg Baker, Mark Lingle II, Thomas and Joanne Lingle, and Richard and Tanya Lingle; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Stroud. Funeral services are 10:00 AM Friday, October 19, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Ken Gipson officiating. Burial with military honors by V.F.W. Rogers Rye Post #2283 is in Cedar Creek Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday. Pallbearers are Tommy Thomas, Lance Thomas, Greg Baker, Mark Lingle II, Thomas Lingle and Richard Lingle. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandchildren.
