James Burris

James W. Burris, 78, of Atkins, passed away June 9, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born September 15, 1934, in Pope County, Arkansas, the son of Rev. William and Esther Darter Burris. He retired after 30 years with the Corp of Engineers and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alvie Burris. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne Burris; son, Darrell Burris and wife Regina; 2 daughters, Kay and husband Jim Rye, and Rhonda and husband Ron Baker; grandchildren, Kara and husband Josh Masters, Greg Rye and wife Tammy, Ryan Burris and wife Brittney, Trevor Burris and wife Ashley, Brandon Baker, and Holly Baker; 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob Masters, Drew Masters, Azlyn Burris and Abigail Rye; brother, Melvin Burris and wife Bobbie; and 4 sisters, Arkie and husband Burl R. Darter, Audrey Ennis, Shirley and husband Charles Young, and Jean and husband David Cothren. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Thursday, June 13, at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jim McNutt, Rev. Darwin Barnhouse and Rev. Ryan Burris officiating. Burial is in Shiloh Cemetery North of Atkins by Lemley Funeral Service. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Lemley Chapel.
