James Odell Chronister, Sr., 81, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born September 14, 1939, in Atkins, son of the late Charley and Jamie Burris Chronister. He retired from the forestry service after 32 years and ran a cattle farm, played music, loved hunting and listening to his dogs run, especially Cigar, and enjoyed working on his old cars. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Betty Chronister; children, James and Mary Chronister, Betty and Jeff Vincent, J.L. and Adona Chronister, Carlyn Myers, David and Donna Chronister, Janet Chronister, Crystal and Travis Ward; 1 sister, Kathryn and Ray Ryals; a host of nieces and nephews; 15 grandchildren; and 17-great-great grandchildren. Graveside service and burial is 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 17, at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Jeremy Mathis officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Pallbearers are James Steven Cantrell, Randy Chronister, Jessie Chronister, Jr., Tommy Vincent, Jacob Chronister, and Chris DeClue.
