James Dylan Thompson, 24, of Pottsville departed this life and gained his wings on Monday, June 29, 2015. Dylan was born on April 8, 1991 in Russellville to Bryan and Tracey Thompson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Othilla Thompson of Pottsville. Dylan was a 2009 graduate of Pottsville High School. He was blessed with the gift of humor and brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. Dylan was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. He especially enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Brad. Dylan is survived by his mother, Tracey Rackley Thompson of Pottsville, father and stepmother, Bryan and Regina Thompson of Pottsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Cari and Jeremy Curtis of Atkins; a brother, Wyatt Thompson of Pottsville; a stepbrother, Jeremy Lewis of Hartman; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Pearl Rackley of Atkins; a maternal great-grandmother, Lorene Rackley of Atkins; his niece, Audrey Curtis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dylan is also survived by his best friend and second family, Brad, Blake, Tena, and Bryce Herren of Pottsville. Dylan leaves behind his beloved German Shepherd, Boomer Sooner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at www.youcaring.com/thompson-family-383766. In accordance with Dylan’s wishes, the family will be making a donation to a local no-kill animal shelter. The family will conduct a private memorial service. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.
