James R. “Handy Jim” Parker, 73, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. He was born December 11, 1944, in New Blaine, son of the late James Franklin and Pearl Mae Roberts Parker. He was the owner and operator of Handy Jim’s General Maintenance, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being on the mountain. He loved spending time with his family and helping anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John Parker and Joe Parker; 2 sisters, Genevia Cameron and Lillie Mae Parker; and a stepson, Jimmy Wilbanks, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Parker; 2 sons, James W. Parker and wife Polly, and Jonathon Parker and wife Carrie; daughter, Kimberly Madden; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jessie Yarbrough, Betty Miller, and Wilma Heflin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 23, at Lemley Chapel with arrangements under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
