James Shinn Obituary

James Shinn, 84, of Atkins, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Twin Lakes Nursing Home in Flippin. He was born February 27, 1931, in Russellville, son of the late Arthur Ervin and Mary Neva Williamson Shinn. He was a member of Bells Chapel United Methodist Church, a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and a retired funeral director and embalmer who served throughout the River Valley. He pastored the Moreland United Methodist Church for 8 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Shinn; and the mother of his children, Betty Shinn.

He married Susan Gibson and moved to Atkins in 1998. He is also survived by a son, Bill Shinn and wife Jennifer of Bull Shoals; brother, Donny Shinn and wife Linda of Spring, Texas; 2 grandsons, Clay Shinn and Blake Shinn; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Grace Shinn.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 31, at Bells Chapel United Methodist Church with Sister Naomi Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private burial is in Old Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Willcutt, Dick Buchy, Jack Walls, Jamie Sweeden, John Jackson, Erick Sweeden and Kerry Austin.
